Craps is a traditional dice game which is widely played around the world in both land-based and online casinos as well as within informal settings. As a game of dice, the premise is simple: Players will attempt to dictate the outcome of a dice roll by placing their bet on either the player’s roll, the banker’s roll, or a range of other outcomes to compete for the lucrative prize money offered at each craps table.
The rules of craps vary depending on where it is played, however, the Armenian version is generally considered to be very similar to the version usually played in the US. The main difference between the two is that, in Armenia, craps are usually only played with two dice rather than three – this can make the game slightly less complex than more traditional versions.
First of all, you will need to decide on the amount of money that you would like to bet on the outcome of a dice roll. When the betting has closed, the dice will then be rolled and one player, known as the ‘shooter’ will be designated as the roller. The shooter will then proceed to roll the dice and any bets that have been placed must be settled upon the conclusion of the roll.
It is important to note that in Armenia, the shooter is usually required to roll both dice at the same time. This means that the outcome of the roll is significantly more unpredictable than if both dice were be rolled separately.
Prior to each roll, players must agree to the rules of the game. In Armenian casinos, players will usually have the option of selecting either single-player craps, or multi-player craps rules.
In single-player craps, it is typical for a round of craps to begin with the shooter attempting to roll either a seven or eleven. If successful, the shooter will be awarded a point and the round ends. However, if the shooter rolls any other value, the roll moves to the next player, known as the ‘goalie.’
In multi-player craps, the rules are slightly more complex. Players must choose a ‘point-score’ between 4 and 10, and the shooter will attempt to roll a combination of dice which matches the previously agreed upon point-score. If the shooter is successful, he is rewarded with the pot, however, if unsuccessful, the round of craps will move to the next player.
Players should always familiarise themselves with the rules of the game prior to playing.
Playing craps is not solely about predicting the outcome of a dice roll: There is also a range of bets that can be placed in order to increase the likelihood of profiting from a game. The most common bets include placing a wager on ‘passline’ (the roll of the shooter in multi-player craps) or, conversely, ‘don’t pass.’
Players may also elect to place a wager on ‘come’ or ‘don’t come’ bets, which refer to the outcome of the next two dice rolls. Finally, the so-called ‘field’ bet is also a popular option, and requires the player to wager on any one of several combinations of dice rolled which will result in a win, typically the three, four, nine, ten, eleven or twelve.
The craps game has been an Armenian casino staple for many years and is still played competitively today. With potentially lucrative rewards and a wide range of different bets on offer, craps is a great way for players to test their luck. However, it is essential to remember to always read the rules of the game prior to playing, as craps can often be a complex and confusing game to newcomers.
