Texas Hold āem (also known as Holdāem) is a poker game that is played using a standard 52-card deck. Players attempt to make the best five-card hand possible by combining their two hole (or pocket) cards with five community cards dealt on the table. It is the most popular form of poker.
Although the game can be played with two to twelve players, it is classically played with six or seven players. A single dealer (or house) deals all cards at the beginning of each round with players taking turns to bet, call, check, raise, or fold after each round dealt.
After two hole cards are dealt (face down) and the first three ācommunityā cards dealt (face-up on the āflopā), players can choose to either bet or check. After the fourth community card is dealt (the āturnā), players can either bet, check, call, or fold. After the fifth and final community card (the āriverā) is dealt, players can either check, call, or fold. The player or players with the best five-card hand at the end of the game wins the pot.
