Betsson Gets the Okay to Offer Sports Betting Services in Germany

The issuance of sports betting licenses in Germany by the Regional Council of Darmstadt continues. In March 2020, Betsson got permission to offer sports betting services in the country. Remember that plans are already in full gear for the official opening of the German iGaming market on July 1, 2021.

Speaking after getting the green light to operate, Betsson CEO Pontus Lindwall said that the company is pleased to receive the license and is well-prepared to launch its German Sportsbook per the German regulations. She added that the company is looking forward to offering German punters the time of their lives.

7 New Sports Betting Websites

After a successful launch on the market, this online casino and sportsbook operator will manage up to seven different sportsbook brands. They include Betsson, Betsafe, Guts, Casinowinner, Nordicbet, Rizk Sport, and Schnellwetten.

So far, the Regional Council of Darmstadt has granted operating licenses to 25 operators countrywide, including Betway. The regulatory body recently licensed three brand-new divisions of Tipico, a leading international online casino and sports betting service provider.

Having said that, granting of operating licenses in the new German sports betting market began in October 2020. Novomatic, Tipico, GVC, and Gauselmann were the first to get approval.

In November, the new regulator issued licenses to Bet3000, bet-at-home, and Interwetten. Another three approvals for Oddset, NetXBetting, and Tipster.de quickly followed this up.

Betway Also Gets Its Operating License

After Betsson, Betway became the 27th sportsbook operator to get the license to operate in the country. Before this, the bookmaker had already made a foothold in Germany, thanks to its partnerships with multiple Bundesliga clubs, including Hertha BSC Berlin, VfB Stuttgart, and SV Werder Bremen. The company will offer its sports betting services via the betway.de website.

He added that Betsson is thrilled to receive a sports betting license from the Regional Council in Darmstadt.

Recently, Betway made headlines after it sponsored South Africa’s main cricket event earlier in the year. This boosted its global appeal, which is already big in Brazil, where it runs a TV channel. The latest deal means that only a few online bookmakers can match Betway’s sports betting market presence.

The Big Bola Casinos Partnership

In other news, Betsson Group announced on April 12, 2021, that it was partnering with Big Bola Casinos to boost its iGaming operations in Mexico. In the deal, Betsson will offer Mexican punters localized sportsbooks, online casinos, and live casino services.

According to the CEO of Betsson Group, the move will see the company expand its Latin America footprint, which is one of the most vibrant betting regions. The company believes that partnering with a local brand will help it curate its content to fit the Mexican culture.

Before that, Betsson Group had obtained the go-ahead to distribute online casino services in Argentina’s Province of Buenos Aires. After this deal, the operator will partner with Casino de Victoria to offer its award-winning games.
