Veikkaus, the Finnish gambling company, is getting ready for the upcoming change in the country's gambling system. As of 1 January 2026, Finland will adopt a partial multi-license system, as stated in the Government Programme.
To align with their strategic goals of becoming the market leader in Finland and an internationally competitive gambling company, Veikkaus will undergo organizational changes. These changes will support their core business and strengthen their knowhow in the field.
The change negotiations, which began in September, have now been finalized. A total of 825 employees were involved in these negotiations. As a result, approximately 185-215 employees will lose their jobs, while about 110-150 employees will experience significant changes in their terms of employment.
Veikkaus' business operations will be divided into three sections:
As a result of the change negotiations, Casino Tampere will be closed after 9 December, and 19 game arcades will be shut down on 22 December 2023.
Veikkaus sees the upcoming changes in the Finnish gambling system as an opportunity for growth. They are committed to investing in their competitiveness and are open to bringing in external expertise. While some employees will be affected by the organizational changes, Veikkaus aims to emerge as a stronger player in the gambling industry.
