Mahjong is a classic Chinese game, traditionally played by 4 people. It is based on skill, strategy and luck. The game can also be played by just 2 players. Mahjong has its roots in ancient China dating back to the 11th century, and over time it has been adapted and revived in many countries all over the world.
The Chinese version of Mahjong is significantly different from the version now widely played in the Western world. The classic Chinese version is played with 144 tiles - circles, sticks, characters, and symbols. The goal of the game is to be the first to lose all the tiles by making 4 melds (combinations of 3 tiles) and one pair (totalling 2 tiles) all in the same turn.
