Poker has a rich tradition in Croatia. The game first made its way to the country in the 19th century, when it was introduced as a gambling game in the country's taverns. At the time, poker was known as the āgame of confidenceā and was played with five cards. The popularity of the game quickly exploded, and it soon became a favorite among the wealthy Croatian population.
During the 20th century, poker lost its status as a game of the elite and became available for the general public. In the early 2000s, Croatian players began taking part in online poker tournaments, leading to a whole new subsection of avid Croatian players.
