Pai Gow is an ancient Chinese domino game dating back to the Song Dynasty which was played throughout China in the late 19th century. In this card game, players try to create a better combination than the banker, with the aim of earning points, which can then be exchanged for real money. The set up of the game is similar to the traditional Chinese game of Ma Jia, but with additional rules and strategy that changes its dynamics. When translated, Pai Gow literally means 'make nine', and is based on dividing a set of tiles into two combinations each having different point values. While it remains popular in Asia, Pai Gow is primarily played as a casino game today, with many variations available online and in casinos all over the world.
