Blackjack begins by each player around the table being dealt two cards. The cardsā values are determined numerically, with numbered cards being worth the same number face value, face cards being worth 10 points, and aces being worth either 11 or 1 depending on the playerās preference.
The dealer then deals to himself one card which remains face down. From this point forward, each player must decide how he or she wants to continue playing. Players can āhitā by taking more cards, āstandā by deciding to take no more cards, ādouble downā by doubling their bet and taking one more card, āsplitā if they have two cards of the same value, or āsurrenderā by giving up their hand and half their bet.
Once all players have declared their move and stood, the dealer reveals their card and follows a set of rules depending on the strength of their hand. If the dealer busts, all players who remain in the game win.
