As the game of poker is constantly evolving, so are the variants that share its name. Texas Hold'em is the most popular poker variant both live and online. Other variants include Omaha, Seven-Card-Stud, 5 Card Stud, Razz, Draw, Badugi, H.O.R.S.E, and Chinese Poker - with Pot-Limit Omaha and Texas Holdāem the most popular, all available in Hong Kong.
Texas Hold'em is a community card game in which each player is dealt two hidden cards (hole cards) and shares five common cards with the other players. Players make their hands by combining any combination of their two hole cards with the five community cards.
Omaha is also a community card game that shares some similarities with Texas Holdāem. In this variant players are dealt four hole cards and must use two of them to make their best five-card hand.
Five-Card Stud is another variant where players are each dealt five cards, with three of them being face-up and the other two face-down. As the Dealer changes with each hand the player right to the dealer's left is first to act on each Street. When all five cards have been dealt the player with the best five-card hand wins, or the pot is split between the highest and lowest hands when the pot limit is used.
Razz poker is a variant of Seven-Card Stud where the goal is to have the lowest playing hand. The lowest point hand wins the pot, and as with the variants mentioned above, can be played in both a limit or pot-limit format.
Chinese Poker is another game variant popular in Hong Kong where players are dealt a total of 13 cards in three groups. The player is required to arrange their cards into three hands with the highest ranked hand in the front row, followed by the middle and bottom row in descending order.
