Texas Holdem is the most popular version of poker played today. It is an exciting card game with many variations that originated in Texas in the early 1900s. However, it didnāt rise to prominence until it was featured on the TV show āCelebrity Pokerā in 2003 after which it gained widespread popularity worldwide.
In Texas Holdem, players are given two face-down cards, while the dealer deals three face-up cards (known as the flop). Players then use their cards in combination with the flop to create the best possible five-card poker hand. After the flop, players can either ācheckā (bet no money), ācallā (match the bet already in the pot), or āraiseā (increase the bet). This is repeated for each of the remaining three cards (known as the turn and river). Then, all players still in the hand reveal their cards and the player with the best five-card hand wins the pot.
