Blackjack, also known as twenty-one, is a popular casino game in Ethiopia. The aim of the game is to attain a higher score than the dealer without the score exceeding 21. To play, two or more decks of 52 cards are shuffled together. The player is dealt two cards face up and the dealer one card face up and another card kept face down.
At the beginning of each round, players must place a bet before any cards are dealt. The player can then choose to hit (take another card), stand (not take any further cards), double (double their previous bet and takes one more card), or split (if the initial two cards are the same the player can separate them, place a new bet, and play them independently). After all the players have finished their turn, the dealer plays.
The dealer must hit until a total of 17 is reached. If the dealer busts (over 21) all players are paid, except those who have also bust. A natural Blackjack consisting of a ten and an ace pays 3:2, while the same score without an ace pays at 1:1.
